Directory Servers allows the central administration and management of network users and network resources. Directory Servers provide the basic functions of network security, Authentication, Authorization and Accounting.

Examples of Directory Servers are Microsoft Active Directory, NetIQ eDirectory, Fedora Directory Server, OpenLDAP etc.
